Win Landmark Commission’s 2007 Preservation Award

AKRON, OH — November 5, 2007 — Shaker Heights Public Library Board of Trustees recently received the 2007 Preservation Award from the Shaker Heights Landmark Commission. The Library credits Kenderson, Inc.’s dedication and meticulousness during the replacement of the main library roof as a major contributing factor in achieving this recognition. “Kenderson supplied us with great support from the time of bid preparation, through the construction period and on to the completion of the project. Thanks to Curt Cousino and his team, the bids and the final project came in under budget and we were ultimately able to use real slate at less cost than what artificial slate would have been. The new roof truly enhanced our building,” said Luren E. Dickinson, Director of the Shaker Heights Public Library.

While every roof replacement presents unique challenges, the Library’s roof required particular care due to the building’s status as a historic landmark.

“We worked with the Library every step of the way, determining exactly what needed to be done and applied our expertise in finding the best people and materials to do the job. Our independence from roofing contractors allowed us to objectively monitor progress and advise the Library on how to maximize its resources. We are thrilled and honored to have been part of a project that helped preserve Northeast Ohio’s heritage, it’s a cause we truly believe in,” said Curt Cousino, vice president and partner at Kenderson, Inc.
